Peter Milburn's Sentimental Journey
Peter's two hour show can be heard on Monday nights at seven, Wednesday and Saturday nights at nine, and Sunday mornings at seven. He says:
"There’s a saying that goes: ‘Sometimes it only takes one good song to bring back thousands of good old memories.’ And so it is with my Sentimental Journey – two hours of great songs and tunes from across the years.
"Here you’ll find crooners, fifties pop pin-ups, memorable instrumentals, easy-listening favourites, forgotten gems…and much more. And the occasional yarn about the many personalities I’ve met since I first started out in radio more than 45 years ago!
"Care Radio means so much to me. My dad took early retirement from BT at the age of 55 to take up a job as a care assistant at a home in Yorkshire, run in those days by the local authority. And such was his passion for the job, within two years he was manager of another local authority care home. He adored working there. And our family were full of admiration at the passion and professionalism shown by staff at Macmillan and Marie Curie towards the end of his life.
"I’m delighted to have this opportunity – having been brought out of my own retirement! - to do a show I love for carers, those being cared for, their family and friends…and anyone else who enjoys a trip down memory lane listening to everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to David Whitfield, Alma Cogan to Dickie Valentine, or Connie Francis to Tony Bennett."
